Why Install a New Garage Door?

Dramatic Curb Appeal Improvement
Your garage door accounts for up to 40% of your home’s street-facing appearance. A new door instantly modernizes your home and increases curb appeal. Whether you’re planning to sell soon or staying for years, you’ll enjoy the visual upgrade every time you come home.

Outstanding Return on Investment
According to Remodeling Magazine’s Cost vs. Value Report, garage door replacement consistently ranks as one of the top home improvements for ROI, recouping 90-95% of costs in increased home value – often more than kitchen or bathroom remodels.

Enhanced Energy Efficiency
Modern insulated garage doors dramatically reduce heat loss and gain, lowering energy bills and making attached garages more comfortable year-round. This is especially important in Missouri’s extreme temperatures (sub-zero winters, 100°+ summers).

Improved Safety & Security
Newer doors feature advanced safety systems including:

  • Photoelectric sensors preventing closure on objects/people
  • Auto-reverse mechanisms
  • Rolling code technology preventing code grabbing

Quieter Operation
Insulated doors with modern roller systems operate significantly quieter than older doors – important if you have bedrooms above or adjacent to your garage.

Reduced Maintenance
Quality modern steel and aluminum doors require minimal upkeep compared to older wood doors that need frequent painting.

Garage Door Installation FAQs

HOW LONG DOES INSTALLATION TAKE?

Most standard residential installations take 4-6 hours from start to finish, including old door removal. Complex installations (custom sizes, structural repairs needed, multiple doors) may take longer.

DO I NEED TO BE HOME DURING INSTALLATION?

We recommend you be present at the start to finalize any last-minute details and at the end for the walkthrough and demonstration. You don’t need to be there during the entire installation.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY OLD GARAGE DOOR?

We handle complete removal and responsible disposal/recycling of your old door and opener (if being replaced). This is included in our installation service.

CAN YOU INSTALL A NEW DOOR IF MY OPENING IS NON-STANDARD SIZE?

Yes. We handle custom sizing regularly. There may be a lead time for custom-manufactured doors, but we can accommodate virtually any opening size or configuration.

SHOULD I REPLACE MY GARAGE DOOR OPENER AT THE SAME TIME?

If your opener is 10+ years old, we recommend replacement. New openers are quieter, more reliable, safer, and offer smart features like Wi-Fi connectivity. We can evaluate your existing opener and provide recommendations.

WHAT LEVEL OF INSULATION DO I NEED?

We recommend at least some level of insulation. We carry R-Values from about 6.5 to 20. The U-Factor on all of our steel-back insulated models are comparable to midrange insulated windows. Most well insulated double-pane windows that go in your living room range from 0.15 – 0.30, which is a similar range for our steel-back insulated garage doors.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT STYLE FOR MY HOME?

We help match your door to your home’s architectural style. Traditional homes typically look best with raised panel designs, while contemporary homes shine with modern flush or glass designs. Craftsman-style homes are perfect for carriage house designs. We bring samples and photos to your consultation.

CAN I SEE EXAMPLES BEFORE I BUY?

Absolutely. Visit any of our four showrooms to see full-size door displays. We also offer a virtual door designer tool where you can upload a photo of your home and visualize different door styles.

WHAT COLORS ARE AVAILABLE?

Most manufacturers offer 10-15 standard colors, from classic whites and almond to rich browns and grays. Custom color matching is available for an additional fee.

DO NEW DOORS COME WITH WARRANTIES?

Yes. Manufacturer warranties vary by brand and model but typically include:

• 10 Years to Lifetime warranty on door sections (against rust-through or delamination)
• 1-5+ years on springs
• 1-5+ years on other components
• Our installation labor is also warranted
