Receiving & Inventory Control TLR (Team Lead Role)

SUMMARY:  To lead and control the efficient unloading and accurate receipt of materials and supplies into the warehouse. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure that all received items are verified as to accuracy and that all shipments and items comply fully with purchase order and shipping documents.
  • To direct and control the proper handling and placement of inbound materials and supplies in their specified locations.
  • To aggressively manage and keep the total inventory of the company under control at all times (manage and control relates to maintaining accurate and up to date inventory records, established inventory levels, inventory turnover rates, days in inventory, cycle counting, and dead and slow moving stock levels).
  • To coordinate inventory usage and storage requirements with purchasing, production and sales.
  • To supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of receiving and material handling processes and the individuals and functions associated with this position.
  • To control the receipt, storage and movement of inventory into the warehouse.
  • To ensure the quality of the products handled in the warehouse.
  • To conduct proper inventory management techniques and methodologies. 
  • To train all personnel that report to this position in proper and safe warehousing techniques.
  • To ensure that assigned work areas, equipment, tools, vehicles and Machinery are maintained in the very best of condition at all times.
  • Fulfill reasonable special requests from personnel involving stocking, loading or handling of materials.
  • Follow an orderly, planned, procedure but be flexible enough to allow for changes when they are necessary and adapt to the change in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Is practical and impersonal in dealing with subordinates. Will never allow personalities or personal likes or dislikes to interfere with sound decision making.
  • Is an efficient supervisor who leads by example and not by intimidation or force.
  • Ensures that assigned employees complete all work assignments within the time limits that have been specified and with the degree of quality that has been established by management.
  • Is a hands-on supervisor and is actively involved in daily assembly activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises 1-4 employees within the receiving department.
  • Communicate expectations and assists when necessary for completion of tasks.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Reliable transportation to work.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Forklift
  • 1-3 years of hands-on, working experience as a Warehouseman directly involved with receiving, storing and handling of bulky materials and supplies.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in the operation of various types of fork-lifts.
  • A minimum of 1 year working with inventory control activities preferably in a large volume manufacturing, supply or distribution company.
  • A minimum of 1 year working with computers and an automated inventory control system.
  • 2 or more years of hands-on supervision of warehousemen are preferred.       
  • Computer skills required: (Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite)
